My daughter has asked me to take her touring in the Hohe Tauern, where she has aquired an apartment. Does anybody know of any ski-tour guides for the area?
Rudolf Rother have a selected guide (in German) titled Hohe Tauern See www.rother.de
I don't know this particular guide, but have some of their others.
The selections tend to be rather scattered, so are perhaps more suited for weekend visits than extended stays, but do give an idea of what is available.
The Alpenvereinskarte maps cover the region in 5 sheets, and mark ski routes if you get the Skirouten sheets.

There are a number of tours around there in the Schitourenatlas (Oesterriech west), Schall-verlag. I got mine from Amazon.
Good luck,
Andrew
Hi Steve,
Some good info on summit post as always

The classic route in the area is the Hoch Tirol Skiroute which traverses the area in 6 (very strenuous) days. You may not want to do the whole thing, but you may be interested in sections of it.
You can pickup printed booklets describing it in the huts, or the PDF is available at http://www.hochtirol.info/

Thank you all.
There are obviously a lot of possible days out, and the maps in the links sent will be very useful.
My German, however, is not up to using the text, even if I work on it.
That would be extremely useful - I have been struggling, but not getting very far ar all.
