This is a Public Forum (i.e. it can be read by members and non-members). It is for advertising items related to the club activities that you wish to sell.
Note that only Eagles members can reply to posts. If you are happy to sell to non-members, you will need to provide a method of contact, e.g. phone number or email address.
Just an observation about the For Sale category being a public forum…
It does seem sensible opening F/S items to the general public to increase market audience.
However if a non-Eagles member responds, there is no way of contacting them with a PM/DM as their contact details aren’t available (since they’re not registered with the forum).
Unless I’m missing something, the only way to share contact details to make the sale/purchase is to post them on a publicly viewable forum posting, which in these days of A.I. bots; identity theft etc is pretty unsafe.
Is it possible as part of the process for a guest, non-member posting replies to a F/S item for their eMail etc to be captured by the forum as part of their reply? They could then be contacted directly outside of the F/S thread.
Hi Geoff, fair point - I don’t think there is at present. We could look to include some guidance on posting as a non-member on the pinned post on the forum?
Think we need to consider how many people this is actually likely to impact before we dive into trying to make changes to how things work on a technical level.
