Online Avalanche Tutorial

Hello,

Here's a couple good links to check out before heading out ski touring this coming winter.

The Canadian Avalanche Centre has put together a good amount of resources for pre trip planning, human factors and also a basic online course. Worth a look!

Maybe less of an issue in the Alps but here's also good link for Tree Wells for people in your group that might not have skied in the trees before.

Friends sent me some photos of snow in the mountains back home and it got me thinking Skiing, can't wait!

All the Best,

Owen

And some more snow nerd stuff...

"A dozen more turns" is a good educational film about an avalanche accident in the states. It runs about 30min and is about a group of friends caught in an avalanche on a ski trip.  This sobering first hand account is told from the perspective of the inured skier and avalanche forecastor first on scene and goes through the incident in detail with the conditions and human factors involved.

Also here's an excellent paper on Human factors by Ian McCammon. Worth while to print out and read.
