Skiing in the North East USA

Hello Eagles!

I may find myself in NYC for 6 months over the winter 2024/25 season. I'm trying to make the most of the skiing opportunities in New England and wondered if anyone had any advice for me, especially about finding ski partners?

I'm currently based in Glasgow and understand that the skiing in New England probably has more in common with Scottish skiing than with the American west coast!

Thanks so much, Alfie

Hi Alfie, I’ve got a couple of British friends in NYC and there are buses that go from the city for the weekend to the nearby (near being 3 hrs in the US) ski resorts. I’m in DC for a few years, so don’t have the same weekend access to New England. Have a look at Ikon and Epic passes - I think Epic is better for NE USA.

Hi Alfie, don’t forget you can use our members map to find members in that part of the world. There’s not many but they might be worth contacting. Here’s a link to the members map: https://www.eagleskiclub.org.uk/members-map.

Wildcat Mountain is fun but expensive. The Presidential Range has lots of touring opportunities esp. Tuckerman Ravine. Scottish conditions. Locals decent types. Appalachian Trail in the summer.
